Unutma Dersleri
VISION new issue!
This publication, which we can define as the first issue of Vision Art Platform after the trial, began to bake in January 2023. This publication which we started to prepare upon the invitation of the gallery, brings together variant culture and art professionals such as Amira Arzik, Berfin Erdogan & Yağmur Uyanık, Ecem Yüksel & Neslihan Başer, Elif Kamışlı, E.S. Kibele Yarman, Gülşah Mursaloğlu, Irmak Karasu & Sena Başöz, Merve Akar Akgün, Panos Giannikopoulos, Phoebe Cummings and Pınar Öğrenci, and their valuable contributions. Our invitation was based on the quote in Nermin Yıldırım’s book titled “Unutma Dersleri”; “The borders of your world are related to the dimensions of your heart.” We aimed to read and examine the vital and artistic practices of artists, curators, writers, chefs, and culture-art workers who contributed and to come together with a literary perspective. Unfortunately, our publication process coincided with many dark days with the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş, which also affected many cities and Turkey’s neighbors. While opening and closing questions about nothing is important in life but living, we tried to prepare for this issue with the strength we got from each other and being together. Under the heavy shadow of irreparable losses, we tried to look at all kinds of possibilities and passed experiences just for tomorrow through art. In addition to the authors, Ayşe Draz, Çağla Özbek, and Merve Ünsal have valuable contributions to the translations of the publication that we have compiled in Turkish and English.
We thank everyone who contributed to this issue for their words that have no borders and their wide world as possible; enjoy the reading.
